It is a complex of activities aimed at gathering the necessary information for technically correct and technologically feasible road repairs. It consists of the following activities:
Road Bearing Capacity Assessment
- bearing capacity assessment of asphalt roads
- bearing capacity assessment of concrete roads including the calculations of slab supports and load transfer
- bearing capacity assessment of airport runways and airport PCN assay
- bearing capacity assessment of new pavement constructions for the purpose of quality assurance
- bearing capacity assessment of pavement constructions for the purpose of quality confirmation in the event of ownership change
Drilling, Sampling and Testing
- pavement core drilling in the diameter of 100 mm to assess the thickness of asphalt layers
- pavement core drilling in the diameter of 150 mm for the physical and mechanical characteristics assessment, analyzed by road research laboratory
- drilled probes for the assessment of road construction composition, i.e. thickness of individual layers which is crucial for the bearing capacity calculation
- sampling of subgrade soil for the purpose of analysis by road research laboratory
- CBR assessment of airport subgrades using an automatic penetrometer
Road Rehabilitation Design
- calculation of dynamic stiffness modules of construction layers using back-calculation software
- residual pavement life calculation in millions of standard axle (msa) for the criterion of fatigue strain till failure ( i.e. fatigue crack formation at the bottom of asphalt layers)
- residual pavement life calculation in millions of standard axle (msa) for the criterion of maximum allowable subgrade strain till failure ( i.e. irreversible subgrade deformation)
- calculations of road reinforcement for the required service life or functional level
- designing of repairs, strengthening or reconstruction including appropriate technology and construction material determination
- designing of new pavement constructions
- assessment of proposed road constructions
